Visitor Attractions
Frenchman's Bay Marina sits on the north-west shore of Lake Ontario in Pickering, on Frenchman's Bay. Operated by the Pickering Harbour Company - whose original vision dates to the company's founding in 1853, carried forward by the current owners since 1962 - the marina presents itself as a waterfront destination for boaters and visitors alike. Its floating docks accommodate high water levels, with draft up to 6 feet and lengths up to 47 feet, plus secure anchorage locations; live-aboards are welcome with modern, clean amenities. The marina is an official weigh station for the Great Ontario Salmon Derby and a Canada Customs telephone reporting centre for arriving boaters. The on-site Lake House Event Centre hosts corporate and family events year-round, from meetings to weddings to reunions. Facilities include washrooms, showers and laundry open year-round, fuel services, pump-outs at individual docks, and a gated dock accommodating boats up to 70 feet. The bay supports boating, wind surfing, kite boarding, paddle boarding, canoeing, kayaking and dragon boating, alongside nature walks, waterfront dining and the Nautical Village shops. Frenchman's Bay itself has a storied past as a major port and centre of commerce from before Canadian Confederation through the 20th century.
